MVNU Launches New Master of Organizational Leadership Degree

Mount Vernon Nazarene University has announced the launch of a new Master of Organizational Leadership degree through MVNU Online, providing working professionals with a flexible pathway to develop leadership skills and advance their careers.

The 30-credit graduate program is designed for individuals serving in businesses, schools, nonprofit organizations, churches, and community groups. University officials say the curriculum combines practical leadership training with a Christian perspective, focusing on ethics, organizational behavior, team dynamics, leadership psychology, and strategic planning.

Dr. Jodi Mills, Dean of MVNU’s College of Adult and Professional Studies, said the program is designed to help students lead effectively in today’s increasingly complex professional environments.

“Our new Master of Organizational Leadership is designed for those ready to lead with steady judgment and principled clarity in a complex world,” Mills said. “It is designed to move students from personal identity and ethics, through culture and teams, to strategic institutional stewardship, all grounded in a Christian vision of leadership as stewardship rather than performance.”

Students enrolled in the program will complete a Leadership Capstone project, allowing them to apply what they have learned through a faculty-supervised project within an organization of their choice.

Dr. Aaron Burgess, Assistant Professor and CAPS Business and Technology Program Director, said the degree addresses a growing need for leaders who can guide organizations through change while maintaining strong ethical foundations.

“Businesses, churches, nonprofits, and communities are looking for leaders who can bring people together, make wise decisions, employ new technologies, and lead with integrity,” Burgess said. “Students will not only learn how to lead organizations but also how to serve people, build trust, handle conflict, and address some of the biggest leadership challenges facing our society today.”

University officials say the online format was specifically developed for working adults, allowing students to balance graduate studies with professional and personal responsibilities.

The new degree program is now available through MVNU Online, with enrollment opportunities open for future classes.
