Meta has significantly expanded its land holdings in Licking County, acquiring roughly 517 acres of property worth approximately $306 million over the past year.
According to a report published Monday by Columbus Business First, the technology company has made the purchases since September 2025 as it continues building its presence in the region.
The acquisitions come amid rapid growth in western Licking County tied to large-scale technology and data-center development.
Meta is among several major technology companies investing heavily in the area. The company’s expanding footprint adds to a broader wave of industrial and data-center development that has generated new investment while also prompting discussions about land use, infrastructure and the long-term impact of the projects on communities throughout the county.
The 517 acres acquired by Meta over the past 12 months represent a substantial expansion of the company’s local property holdings. The reported $306 million value also illustrates the scale of investment occurring in the region.
The company’s activity is part of a larger transformation underway in western Licking County, particularly around New Albany and surrounding communities, where data centers and other large technology-related developments have become increasingly prominent.
Other major technology investments are also underway in the area. Business First reports that Amazon Web Services is expected to invest more than $1 billion in New Albany, while another data-center company recently paid $137 million for 270 acres in Licking County.
The continued acquisition of land by major technology companies is likely to remain an important issue for Licking County officials and residents as the county works to balance economic development with questions surrounding infrastructure, utilities, transportation and future land use.
Meta’s latest land purchases add another significant piece to that ongoing development story.
