The Knox County Career Center Air Force Junior ROTC will host its annual Raider Competition Saturday, October 10th, at Ariel-Foundation Park in Mount Vernon.
The competition will run from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and is free and open to the public. Food trucks will also be available on site throughout the event.
Cadets will compete in a series of physically demanding events designed around teamwork, endurance and leadership.
According to event information, competitions will include a vehicle pull and tower climb, fire flip and pull-ups, litter carry, heavy-object carry, woodland trek and one-rope bridge.
The Raider Competition gives JROTC cadets an opportunity to work together in challenging physical events while demonstrating communication, endurance and leadership skills.
The event has previously attracted teams from outside the area. KCCC’s 2025 competition brought 13 schools and 25 teams from two states to Ariel-Foundation Park. KCCC’s A team finished fourth overall, while its B team finished 10th.
The 2026 competition will take place throughout the park on Saturday, October 10th, with the public invited to watch the cadets compete.
For KCCC’s JROTC program, the Raider Competition is part of a broader emphasis on teamwork, leadership and physical readiness.
