Jackets, Trojans, Bulldogs and Blue Devils pick up wins Friday Night

It was nearly a clean sweep for the Knox County Football teams Friday Night for week 6.

The Mount Vernon Yellow Jackets improved to 2-4 on the season with a 37-0 road win over Zanesville. The win was the second in a row for the Jackets. They were led by Mavrik Gregory who ran for 121 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Gregory averaged 7.6 yards a carry. Meanwhile quarterback Jake Taylor threw for 190 yards and two scores. The Jackets go for a third straight win Friday at home versus Watkins Memorial. The Jackets are seeking their first 3 game win streak since they ended 2020 with three straight wins.

The Centerburg Trojans are now 4-2 on the season and 2-1 in the KMAC following a 33-6 home win over Cardington Lincoln. Miles Marshall ran for over 200 yards on the ground and added a 70 yard touchdown along with a touchdown runs of 16 and 6 yards. Chris Marshall added a pair of touchdown runs for the Trojans. The Trojans two losses come to teams with a combined record of 12-0.

East Knox beat Mount Gilead 20-0 Friday to remain perfect in the KMAC. Jaxon Lester threw for 229 yards and 2 touchdowns. Blake Elliott threw a 3 yard touchdown pass. Lester added 54 yards on the ground. Lester threw a 53 yard touchdown pass to Shane Gardner, Gardner also caught Elliott’s 3 yard touchdown pass. Lester found Logan Clark for a 22 yard touchdown pass as well.

Danville shut out Loudonville 22-0 in KMAC play Friday Night. Ed Honabarger returned to the place he coached for many years on the other sideline and fell short versus the Blue Devils. Aiden Burke and Jacob Hackman had rushing scores in the win. Hackman also threw for a touchdown. Danville ran for 192 yards in improving to 4-2 overall and 2-1 in the KMAC.

Northmor stayed unbeaten in a win 19-0 over Fredericktown. The Golden Knights held Freddies QB Blake Sipes in check. Sipes ran for 56 yards but averaged over 9 yards per carry and threw for 73 yards on 8 of 11 passing. Cowin Becker had a 32 yard touchdown and scored 2 total touchdowns in the win. Carson Campbell added a 24 yard touchdown run in the win for Northmor.
