Brown tallies third NCAC Athlete of the Week award

CLEVELAND, Ohio — Kenyon College’s Anna Brown is becoming a regular on the North Coast Athletic Conference’s (NCAC) Athlete of the Week ledger, landing the weekly honor for the third time over the last five weeks. Brown bagged the Women’s Indoor Track and Field Mid/Distance award for her performance at the All-Ohio Championship over the weekend, where she whipped up a win and added a second-place showing.

At the annual meet, Brown showed off her standing as one of the best in the state, reaching the podium in two distance events. The junior’s best finish came in the mile, where she stopped the clock at 5:11.47 to pace the field. Her mark cleared second place by over three seconds, is the fastest time for an Owl in the event this season, and set a personal best for Brown by over six seconds.

Brown also ran well in the 800-meter race, an event in which she shines and has helped her haul in two other recent Athlete of the Week awards. She crossed the finish line at 2:19.33, securing second and finishing just over a second behind the leading time. Overall, Brown scored 18 of Kenyon’s 44 points as the Owls finished seventh in the 15-team standings.

Up next, Brown and the Owls will compete at home on the Toan Indoor Track, hosting the Kenyon Tune Up at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, February 21, the final regular-season meet before the NCAC Indoor Track and Field Championships.
