CLEVELAND, Ohio — Following the balloting of the league’s volleyball coaches, the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) announced the annual All-NCAC team on Monday, and Kenyon College’s Aura Barinas earned her first all-conference award to represent the Owls.
The 2024 season was a breakout campaign for Barinas, who paced the Owls in multiple offensive categories and was a constant presence on the court for Kenyon. For her efforts, the junior secured a spot on the All-NCAC Third Team.
Barinas bolstered Kenyon’s offense by leading the team in points (287.5), points per set (2.88), kills (250), and kills per set (2.50). The outside hitter was one of two Owls to play all 100 of the team’s sets, and she was the only player to start all 27 of the team’s matches. Additionally, Barinas ranked fourth on the team in assists (26), service aces (27), and service aces per set (0.27).
All of those offensive outputs marked career-highs for the Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, native, who also had a career year on the defensive end. Her 254 digs ranked second on the team, and she tallied a personal-best 18 blocks. Amongst Owls who had more than four receptions, Barinas’s .918 reception percentage on a team-high 524 attempts ranked second.
Barinas also found her name amongst the NCAC’s individual leaders, ranking sixth in both points and kills, seventh in both points and kills per set, 14th in digs, and 20th in service aces.
