Update Your Alarm Information

NEWARK, OHIO – The Newark Division of Police is asking anyone with a residential or business alarm
system in the City of Newark to contact us and update your contact info. It is vital that we are able to
contact a key holder in case of an alarm activation.

You can update your information by emailing us at alarm@newarkohio.net . Please include the address of
the alarmed structure, the name of all keyholders and their telephone numbers, and the name and
telephone number of the business if applicable. If you move or change alarm service providers, please let
us know when that occurs. For businesses, please update us whenever staff or emergency contact
information change.

The City of Newark does not charge a fee or require a permit for having an alarm installed, outside of any
building permits that may be required for related work. However, the city does charge for false alarm
responses.

False alarm responses for accidental trips can be greatly reduced by immediately calling your alarm
service provider and cancelling the alarm activation.

Per City Ordinance 1062.08:
A penalty of twenty-five dollars ($25.00) shall be assessed for each false alarm to which the Divisions of
Police and/or Fire respond. No charge shall be made for the first three false alarms which may occur

There shall be no charge or penalty for a false alarm to which there is no response by the Division of
