COLUMBUS, Ohio – Oct. 16, 2024 – The U.S. Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has reported record numbers of airline passengers this summer. How to get TSA PreCheck®-approved
The enrollment process is quick, convenient and even faster when the application is completed online beforehand. The in-person enrollment requires that applicants provide proof of identity, proof of citizenship, fingerprints and a photo. IDEMIA offers TSA PreCheck® enrollment for $78, and if approved, travelers get a five-year membership with the program. The program is open to U.S. citizens, U.S. nationals and lawful permanent residents.
Following the in-person enrollment appointment, most applicants receive their Known Traveler Number (KTN) in about three to five days. The KTN number must be added to flight reservations to enjoy TSA PreCheck® benefits.
TSA PreCheck® was created in December 2011 as a way to provide low-risk travelers with a smoother experience through airport security. It’s a great option for travelers looking to save time. Enrolled members do not need to remove shoes, laptops, 3-1-1 liquids, belts, or light jackets. They also access TSA PreCheck® dedicated screening lanes at over 200 participating U.S. airports nationwide.
“With the summer vacation season in full swing and air travel being extremely popular, these TSA PreCheck® enrollment opportunities couldn’t come at a better time for travelers anticipating long airport lines,” said Kara Hitchens, AAA spokesperson. “TSA PreCheck® enables identified low-risk air travelers to enjoy an expedited and efficient security screening experience.”
TSA PreCheck® is valid for 5 years. In addition, children ages 12 and younger may use the TSA PreCheck® lane when traveling with a parent or guardian who has the indicator on their boarding pass.
Children 17 and under can join an adult with TSA PreCheck® when the TSA PreCheck® indicator appears on the child’s boarding pass. For TSA PreCheck® eligibility requirements and frequently asked questions about TSA PreCheck®.
AAA travel experts will also be on hand to help book flights, hotels, cruises or other travel arrangements, provide travel planning resources, and offer a variety of luggage and other travel accessories to make trips more convenient and enjoyable.
