Two teachers at Abraxas School are receiving grants from the Richland County Foundation to support new classroom projects during the upcoming school year.
The foundation recently awarded education grants to teachers across Richland County for creative or supplemental programs that are not covered through regular school funding.
At Abraxas, Rachel Jamieson received $1,339 for The Page Turner Grant: Igniting a Love for Literacy, while Julie Pfeifer received $1,491.68 for Art Across the Curriculum.
The foundation says its education grants are designed to give teachers additional resources to enhance learning and provide opportunities that may not otherwise be available through traditional classroom funding.
Jamieson said her literacy project will provide resources aimed at engaging underserved students, strengthening critical literacy skills and encouraging a lifelong interest in reading.
The Richland County Foundation allows individual teachers or small teams of teachers to apply for the grants, with awards capped at $1,500 per project.
The latest grants are part of the foundation’s continuing effort to support innovative educational programs throughout Richland County.
