NEWARK, OHIO – On Monday, March 17, 2025 at 9:13pm, Newark Division of Police
responded to a call of a robbery at the Speedway gas station, located at 117 E. Main Street, in
Newark. The gas station attendant reported that a black male, wearing a light colored hooded
sweatshirt and dark pants, presented a firearm, and demanded cash. The attendant provided the
suspect with the cash without incident, and was not harmed.
Prior to the robbery, the suspect was observed on video surveillance approaching the gas
station on foot. Immediately following the robbery, the suspect was seen running east across the
bridge towards the Licking County Justice Center.
Newark Police Detectives are currently investigating the robbery and are asking for the
public’s help in identifying the suspect; a black male, approximately 5’ 7” to 5’ 10”, wearing a
light-colored Nike zip-up hoodie, dark pants, light-colored slides, black glasses, black face
covering, and a black back pack. Anyone who may have observed the suspect around the
Speedway between 9:00 p.m. – 9:30 p.m. is asked to call Detective William Ulmer (740) 670-
