Fans of classic country music will have the chance to experience the music of Patsy Cline while supporting local families facing food insecurity this November.
Food For The Hungry of Knox County and Six Miles to Nellie are teaming up to present “The Patsy Show,” a three-performance musical tribute to the country music legend at the historic Woodward Opera House. One hundred percent of ticket-sale profits will benefit Food For The Hungry and its efforts to provide food assistance to Knox County residents.
The production will feature Courtney DeCosky, lead singer of Six Miles to Nellie, portraying Cline and performing with the full Nellie band. During the show, the character of Patsy Cline will share stories and memories behind some of her classic recordings and their connections to her family and life.
The production will also feature a special appearance by Minnie Pearl, bringing an element of Grand Ole Opry nostalgia to the performances.
Performances are scheduled for Friday, November 20 at 7:30 p.m., followed by two performances on Saturday, November 21, at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
All performances will be held at the Woodward Opera House, 107 South Main Street in Mount Vernon. Tickets are $25 with assigned seating and are available through the Woodward Opera House.
The Woodward, which first opened in 1851, is recognized as America’s oldest authentic 19th-century theater still standing and will provide the setting for the tribute.
Food For The Hungry was founded in 1982 to address food insecurity in Knox County. The organization works with partner agencies including Interchurch Social Services, the Salvation Army and local food pantries and hot-meal programs to provide food and critical financial assistance to residents in need.
Organizers say all donations to Food For The Hungry remain in Knox County to help local residents.
