NEWARK, OHIO – The Christmas season is rapidly approaching and we are currently planning for our
annual “Cops & Kids” event with the Newark City Schools. “Cops & Kids” pairs students selected by
Newark City Schools with police officers of the Newark Division of Police so that the student may buy
Christmas gifts for their family members. This year’s event will be held on December 10, 2025.
In partnership with the Newark City Schools and our local Walmart, students and families will be able to shop for gifts for their family members at Walmart. After the students are done shopping with the police officers, they will sit down with them to enjoy a lunch of pizza, chicken fingers, and cookies. While the students are having lunch, their parents will be able to shop for their child.
Local businesses and civic organizations have generously sponsored this event in the past by providing
donations for the participating elementary and middle school students and their families. We are hoping that local businesses, civic organizations, and individual citizens will once again consider sponsoring the selected students and families for this year’s event. We appreciate your consideration in donating to this event this year to help make each student’s holiday a bit brighter. Your generous monetary donation is always very much appreciated.
The point of contact for donations is Gemma Zimmerman at gzimmerman@newarkcityschools.org.
Checks can be made out to “Newark City Schools” and in the memo please put “Cops & Kids”.
Donations can be mailed to Newark City Schools, 621 Mt. Vernon Road, Newark, OH 43055.
Donations are tax deductible as allowed by law. EIN # 31-6400796.
