Columbus police are investigating a tragic murder-suicide that occurred Sunday afternoon on the city’s southwest side. This incident, which marks the second murder-suicide in the city within the past week, has shocked the local community.
Police were alerted to the situation by a neighbor who reported hearing screams and gunshots coming from the residence. When officers arrived at the scene, they found a woman deceased at the home. Her husband was later pronounced dead at a local hospital. Both individuals, who were in their 50s, have Police identified the couple as 55-year-old James Barnes and 59-year-old Beverly Barnes. Police have stated that the exact circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear, including which individual may have fired the shots. They have also confirmed that there is no evidence suggesting the involvement of any other person.
