Morrow County Sheriff’s Deputy Killed in Domestic Dispute Response

Marengo, Ohio — A Morrow County Sheriff’s Deputy has died after being shot while responding to a domestic dispute Monday night in the village of Marengo.

Sheriff John Hinton confirmed the deputy was fatally wounded during an altercation with a suspect at the scene. The deputy was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. The suspect was also shot during the incident and remains in serious condition.

The Delaware County Sheriff’s Office is leading the investigation, with support from the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI).

In a brief and emotional statement, Sheriff Hinton said, “There are no words to express the pain being felt by our office today.”
