On August 15th , 2024 Officers of the Mount Vernon Police Department Patrol
Division located and detained a Mount Vernon resident, Cameron Ray Moore (23) in
connection with the active homicide investigation of the two deceased persons at 105
South Gay Street, on August 14th , 2024.
Detectives from the Mount Vernon Police Department in consultation with the
Knox County Prosecutor’s Office subsequently arrested Cameron Ray Moore. Moore
has been initially charged with two counts of Aggravated Murder in the deaths, and
additional charges may follow as the investigation continues. The evidence indicates
that Moore acted alone and is the sole assailant in this vicious crime.
Moore was transported and booked into the Knox county Jail without incident. He
is being held without bond pending further judicial proceedings.
In accordance with the provisions of Ohio’s Marsy’s Law, the victim’s
identifications will continue to be withheld until the victim’s family’s consent to their
release or other judicial proceedings are made public.
