Knox County Veteran Services is located at 105 East Chestnut St and is a local program offered to connect local veterans to services and resources they might not know about as well as benefits them and their families can be entitled to. On Monday May 20, they had their fourth annual open house where they offered free ice cream, t-shirts, 3×5 nylon American flags, and other fun swag. An estimated 170 people attended, which was extremely successful. They will also be hosting their Annual Veteran Picnic over at Ariel Foundation Park, date is yet to be determined. Finally, they have brought back in house counseling with retired army chaplain Dawn Wilson. Wilson will be in every Wednesday from about 9am-1pm to speak to veterans, not to medicate or diagnose them, but to offer advice as well as someone to talk to.
