Knox County Updates: From the Board of Commissioners

There are many developments across Knox County that deserve the spot light. First the Land Bank received a 2.46 million for residential development. With this grant, the Land Bank will build 12 new house within Knox County for local residents. As more residents come into Knox County looking for homes, they begin the County Comprehension Plan. The County Comprehension Plan will lay out what steps Knox needs to take as it’s population expands. Especially with Intel moving in, the county will be having meetings as the plan develops to get public opinion on the direction they want to see Knox go.

There are also a few buildings being worked on within the county in these up coming weeks. Knox County Jail is getting work done in their kitchen as well as new boilers and hot water tanks being installed. The Courthouse’s hawk tower has been cleaned and repainted. As well as the clock tower being cleaned up, the only repair needed is the face itself, which should be completed within the next two weeks. At the beginning of July, the commissioners office will behaving work done to help with flooding. Finally, this summer, about a million dollars worth of roadwork will be taking place. Drivers are heavily advised to be aware of all workers on roadways and slow down through work zones.
