All five Knox County high school football teams remain in playoff contention as the Ohio High School Athletic Association has released its first computer ratings of the 2026 season.
The ratings were released Tuesday, marking the first look at where teams stand in their respective regions with the regular season now at its midpoint. Under the OHSAA playoff format, the top 12 teams in each region in the final computer ratings qualify for the postseason, while the top four receive a first-round bye.
Danville currently has the highest position among Knox County teams. The undefeated Blue Devils are third in Division Seven, Region 27, with a computer rating of 7.9500. Danville trails only Symmes Valley and Shadyside in the region.
Three Knox County schools are competing in Division Six, Region 23. East Knox is sixth, with a rating of 5.3000, while Centerburg is 10th at 4.5500. Fredericktown is currently 14th, putting the Freddies just outside the qualifying positions with the season still having several weeks remaining.
Mount Vernon is 16th in Division Two, Region Seven, with a rating of 3.8500.
The OHSAA’s final computer ratings will determine the playoff field, with the top 12 teams in each region qualifying. The playoffs are scheduled to begin October 30, while the state championship games are set for December 3rd through 5th at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton.
The ratings will continue to change as teams play through the remainder of the regular season.
