— This Veterans Day, the American Red Cross celebrates all veterans and active-duty service members. From when they first join the military, and for the rest of their lives, the Red Cross stands by service members and their families through our Service to the Armed Forces programs.
Our Service to the Armed Forces programs helps members of the military, veterans, their families, caregivers and survivors prepare for, cope with, and respond to the challenges of military life, both in the U.S. and abroad. From the first day of enlistment to life after service, dedicated Red Cross volunteers and staff members are committed to providing a continuum of care to the military community.
The Service to Armed Forces program in the Central & Southern Ohio Region supports military personnel, veterans, and families on the military installations in the region, at four Veteran’s Administration Hospitals, and throughout the community. Key installations supported include Wright-Patteson Air Force Base, Military Entrance Processing Station Columbus, Rickenbacker Air National Guard Base, 178th Wing Air National Guard Base, Navy Operational Support Center Cincinnati, and more. A team of over 120 local American Red Cross volunteers support and carry out the Service to Armed Forces programs throughout our region. Volunteers range from civilian to active duty, from administrative through PhD, RN and MD who practice to the full extent of their credentials.
