Hawks sentenced in Delaware County Common Pleas Court for Telecommunications Harassment

On March 19, 2024, Delaware County Common Pleas Court Judge Marianne T. Hemmeter sentenced Alex Hawks, a 35-year-old Canal Winchester man, to 11 months in prison for Telecommunications Harassment, a felony of the fifth degree.

In February, Judge Hemmeter found Hawks guilty of Telecommunications Harassment in a trial to the Court. Hawks had a previous conviction for Telecommunications Harassment (a misdemeanor of the first degree), which elevated his conduct in this case to a felony of the fifth degree.

“Disobey the law and orders from a Court, and your conduct will land you facing serious charges as it did with Mr. Hawks. Today, Mr. Hawks’ repeated violations of contacting an individual outside the scope of a lawful court order caught up with him.” Delaware County Prosecutor Melissa Schiffel said.

This case was prosecuted by Assistant Prosecuting Attorneys Kenneth Sapp and Laura Kent.
