First Friday Mount Vernon: A Night of Entertainment

The First Friday event for June kicks off tomorrow and here is everything you need to know. Junes First Friday is sponsored by Sara Mankins and for this one, we are going back in time to 1980. It is encouraged to break out the leg warmers and big hair as you head to downtown this Friday, some shops will even be offering discounts for those in their best ’80s attire. This event kicks off at 6pm and will be going until 9pm, but they will be shutting down Main ST., Vine St., High St., and E. Gambier St. at 4pm for set-up.

As for events, there is something for everyone. A cruise-in will be hosted on the square during the duration of the event. Woodware Opera House will be putting on their production of “Footloose”. To stay on theme with First Friday they will be performing songs, hosting an ’80s theme name that tune, big hair competition, and a guess that ’80s item contest. There will also be a Battle of the Bands, which will be held at Burrata Woodfire starting at 6pm and the winner will be announced at 8:50pm. For the food lovers, there will be 10 different food trucks, ranging from gyros to burgers to funnel cakes. A kid zone for the little ones and a bunch of small shops and vendors will also be there for everyone enjoyment, for more details on First Friday, visit Experiencing Mount Vernon website at https://www.experiencemv.org/dates
