Exciting Library Events to Look Forward to This June

The month of June is a busy one for the Knox County Public Library system. For adults there are many events, tomorrow is the Adult Craft and Conversation from 6-7:30 pm. Then on Friday, the summer reading program for all ages begins and will go until July 12. On Monday June 3, the Young Adult Craft registration begins for the actual craft day on June 10 at 2 pm where you will be able to make your own diamond art bookmark. The Spice Blend of the Month will also be available that Monday, they will be giving out Jamaican Jerk. Tuesday June 4 will be the Silver Screeners showing of “Cleopatra” (1934) at 7 pm. Thursday June 6 at 6 pm will be Authors Anonymous where writers 18+ can join the library in fun activities to expand their writing skills. June 11 at 7 pm is Retro Cinema’s showing of “The Mummy” (1999) then June 12 will be the Adult Summer Craft at 10 am where you are welcomed to join the library to make an outdoor wire basket solar light chandelier. June 18 will be the Adult Book Discussion of “The Mummy Case” by Elizabeth Peters at 7 pm. On June 20 there will be a book discussion on “This is Gonna Hurt” with Brandon Weis at 1 pm and Authors Anonymous at 6 pm. Friday June 21 at 10 am will be a community walk of the historic downtown in Mount Vernon beginning at the Civil War Memorial. June 24 will be another Adult Craft Class at 2 pm where you can make a reverse canvas picture. Another Adult Book Discussion will be on June 25 at 630 pm where the discussion will be held on the book “Lessons in Chemistry” by Bonnie Garmus. The final Adult Craft and Conversation of the month will be held on June 27 at 6 pm as well as the Red Cross Blood Drive at 11 am until 4 pm.

For those under the age of 18, there are plenty of events for them too. Every Monday of the month starting June 3 will be the Summer Reading Program Kids Take and Go Craft Kits which will be available at the Fredericktown Community Library with supplies for kids to make a new craft every week. Also on June 3 is the Teen Summer Reading Program: Character Creation from 1-5 pm, this program will be every Monday in June. The Fredericktown library will also be hosting Crafts and Snacks with Anne that day from 3-5 pm. Every Tuesday of the month Gambier Community Library will be holding story time at both 10:30 am and 4 pm, as well as Mount Vernon holding their 24 month and up story time at 10 am. Every Wednesday the Summer Reading Program will hold a event at Gambier Community Library at 10 am, this Wednesday is Sue, the Bubble Lady. Then every Thursday will be the Summer Reading Program will be holding events at the Schnormeier Event Center, this upcoming Thursday will be The Works at 10 am and they will also head over to the St. Luke Community Center at 1 pm. Wednesday June 12 will be Baby Storyland at 10 am and the Teen Writing Program at 2 pm. Monday June 17, Fredericktown Community Library will host Going on a Safari: Adventure Begins @ Your Library at 2 pm. Then the next day on June 18 will be Bigger and Better Putt Putt Golf at 4 pm.
