Eight New Homes Planned for Shelby as Housing Development Moves Forward

A new residential development is taking shape in Shelby after plans were approved for the construction of eight new single-family homes.

City officials say the project will help address continued demand for housing while expanding residential options within the community. The development is expected to add new tax base, attract additional families and support long-term growth in the northern portion of Richland County.

Community leaders say new housing remains one of Shelby’s priorities as employers throughout the Mansfield area continue seeking workers. Additional residential development also provides opportunities for young families and retirees looking to remain in the community.

Infrastructure work is expected to begin before home construction starts, with utilities, streets and other site improvements completed first.

Officials say while eight homes may seem modest, projects of this size continue to build momentum toward addressing the region’s ongoing housing shortage.

As communities throughout north-central Ohio compete for economic development opportunities, local leaders say expanding housing inventory will remain a critical component of future growth.
