Edison teen, Marengo woman involved in Fatal Crash in Morrow County

Harmony Township – The Mt. Gilead Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is
investigating a two-vehicle fatal crash that occurred on June 20, 2024 at
approximately 7:08 a.m. on County Road 25 near County Road 170 in Harmony
Township, Morrow County.


Amayala Wampler, age 19, of Edison, Ohio, was operating a 2007 Jeep Liberty
northbound on County Road 170. Ashley Seymour, age 21, of Marengo, Ohio, was
operating a 2019 Chevrolet Traverse eastbound on County Road 25. Ms. Wampler
failed to stop at a stop sign and was struck by Ms. Seymour. Ms. Wampler’s vehicle
traveled off the northeast corner of the intersection, overturned and struck a fence.


Ms. Wampler and Ms. Seymour were flown to Grant Medical Center in Columbus.


Ms. Wampler was pronounced deceased on June 21st . Ms. Seymour suffered serious
but non-life-threatening injuries. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts at the time of
the crash. Alcohol/drugs are not suspected factors.


The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted on scene by Big Walnut Fire
Department, Morrow County EMS, Med-Flight and Air Evac.
