Delaware Celebrates 2025 Citizens Academy Graduates

The City of Delaware congratulates the 2025 class of the Delaware Citizens Academy, whose members were recently recognized during a graduation ceremony with City Council.

Over four months, participants attended 10 sessions totaling 23 hours of instruction. The Citizens Academy provides a comprehensive, behind-the-scenes look at City departments, services, and operations.

Members of the 2025 class are:
Don Upshaw, Kyle Iden, Corey Hinshaw, George Harris, Holly Harris, Abby Buckerfield, Devesh Chauhan, Bill Barker, Christie McVicker, Scott McVicker, Kerry Spires, and Leslie Joiner.

Since launching in 2010, the free Citizens Academy has graduated nearly 270 residents. The program is designed to encourage civic engagement by offering residents a deeper understanding of how their local government works.

Registration for the next Citizens Academy class will begin in January 2026.
