COLUMBUS, OH — The Franklin County Board of Commissioners has announced the appointment of Andrena Austin as Director of Economic Engagement & Community Development (EECD), effective Monday, October 13.
Ms. Austin previously served as the county’s Economic Opportunity Administrator within the EECD division, where she led initiatives to strengthen local business ecosystems and foster inclusive economic growth. With more than 25 years of service to Franklin County, Austin brings extensive experience in public administration, small business development, and community empowerment to her new leadership role.
Throughout her career, Austin has advanced efforts to expand access to resources, workforce development, and procurement opportunities for local entrepreneurs and small businesses. Her leadership reflects a deep commitment to connecting people, policy, and partnerships that drive long-term, sustainable impact across Franklin County.

The Economic Engagement & Community Development division plays a vital role in implementing the Commissioners’ Rise Together Blueprint for Reducing Poverty, supporting programs that promote small business growth, workforce development, and equitable economic opportunity across Franklin County.
