Powell man to be sentenced Monday for 2023 Murder

A Powell man has been convicted on multiple felony charges, including murder, kidnapping, and rape, after a five-day trial in Delaware County.

On Wednesday, a jury found Brandon Toleque, 32, guilty of two counts of murder with firearm specifications, one count of first-degree felony kidnapping, and one count of first-degree felony rape.

The convictions stem from a violent incident that occurred on November 15, 2023, when Arazeia Richardson was fatally shot inside Toleque’s home at Thornbury Lane and Ascot Court in Powell. Richardson was a guest at the residence.

Following the murder, prosecutors say Toleque forced another guest to flee the scene with him. While driving across Ohio, Toleque sexually assaulted the woman before being apprehended by police in Indiana.

Toleque now faces a potential life sentence. His sentencing hearing is scheduled for Monday, May 12, 2025, at 3:15 p.m.
