Village of Hebron Announces Appointment of New Police Chief, Tyler Welsh

The Village of Hebron is pleased to announce the appointment of Tyler Welsh as the new Chief of Police for the Hebron Police Department. Chief Welsh officially joined the department on Monday, November 10th.

Chief Welsh brings more than a decade of law enforcement experience to Hebron, including extensive work in patrol, supervision, investigations, tactical operations, and program development. Most recently, he served as a Sergeant and Drone Team Commander with the City of Lancaster Police Department, where he supervised patrol officers, led specialized aerial operations, and oversaw innovative technology initiatives such as a department-wide drone program and an electronic citation system.

Chief Welsh is a U.S. Army veteran, having served as a Military Police Officer during Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan. His educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice (Summa Cum Laude), an Associate of Arts in Criminal Justice, and he is currently pursuing a Master’s in Criminal Justice Administration at Tiffin University.

“We are honored to welcome Chief Welsh to the Village of Hebron,” said Mayor Dr. Valerie Mockus. “His leadership experience, technical expertise, and dedication to community safety make him exceptionally well suited to guide the Hebron Police Department into its next chapter.”

Chief Welsh expressed gratitude and enthusiasm for the opportunity. “It is a privilege to serve the residents of Hebron,” he said. “I look forward to building strong relationships, supporting our officers, and continuing the department’s commitment to professionalism and community trust.”

The Village of Hebron extends its appreciation to all who supported the selection process and looks forward to the leadership and vision Chief Welsh will bring to the department.
