WQIO Ohio's Super Station
Franklin Township- The Mt. Gilead Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a
two-vehicle fatal crash that occurred on June 26, 2024 at approximately 11 :59 p.m. on State
Route 95, Mile Post 13 near Township Road 14, Morrow County.
Joe Lee Bolton, age 66 of Fredericktown, Ohio was operating a 2002 Ford F-150 eastbound on State
Route 95. Blaze Maurer, age 19, of Mount Gilead was operating a 1998 Dodge Ram 1500 westbound on
State Route 95.
Mr. Bolton traveled left of center and struck Mr. Maurer head on. Mr. Maurer was transported to Ohio
Health Mansfield with serious injuries. Mr. Bolton was transported to Morrow County Hospital where
he succumbed to his injuries.
Alcohol /drugs are not a suspected factor in this crash. Seatbelts were not in use by either driver.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted on scene by Mount Gilead EMS and Fire, Morrow County
Sheriff Department, Morrow County ODOT, and the Morrow County Prosecutor.
