Amazon Invests $1 Billion in Marysville, Boosting Local Economy and Schools

MARYSVILLE, OHIO – Amazon Web Services (AWS) is making a significant impact in Central Ohio with a $1 billion investment in Marysville. The plan, recently approved unanimously by the Marysville City Council, includes the construction of two 500,000-square-foot data center buildings in Innovation Park.

According to Eric Phillips, Marysville’s Economic Development Director, the project is expected to bring 25 high-paying direct jobs, with salaries averaging around $90,000. While the number of direct jobs may seem modest, the investment will generate substantial economic benefits, including tax revenue and local business growth.

One of the most promising aspects of the development is the positive effect on education. The funding provided through the investment will support the Marysville Exempted Village School District and career technical education programs, helping to prepare students for future jobs in technology and related fields.

“This is a tremendous opportunity for Marysville, both economically and educationally,” Phillips said. “It will not only strengthen our local economy but also equip students with the skills they need to thrive in a tech-driven workforce.”

The construction of the data centers marks another major win for Ohio as it continues to attract large-scale technology investments. With the rapid expansion of cloud computing and data storage, AWS’s commitment to Marysville underscores the region’s growing importance as a tech hub.

As the project progresses, city officials and community leaders anticipate a ripple effect, with increased demand for services, new businesses, and infrastructure improvements that will further benefit the city and its residents.

Stay tuned for more updates on this transformative investment and its impact on Marysville’s future.
