Butterflies take flight once again for Blooms & Butterflies.

Stroll amid hundreds of colorful, exotic butterflies flying freely through the Pacific Island Water Garden Biome, a warm tropical haven filled with bright nectar blooms. Surrounded by lush flora, watch as butterflies soar overhead, bask on plants and sip on nectar.

Butterflies are most active during periods with bright, clear sunlight. At the Conservatory, butterflies receive all the care and nutrition necessary to live long lives—typically longer than they’d live in the wild. Touching butterflies, trying to feed them, attempting to attract them to you, or interacting with them beyond observation can cause harm.

The botanical gardens and container displays are dazzling celebrations of spring!

More than 125,000 tulips, narcissus, pansies and other stars of the season will bloom in the botanical gardens and container displays. Throughout the Conservatory and Franklin Park, magnolias, lilacs, cherries, viburnum and thousands of perennials bring exciting bursts of scent and color after a long winter slumber.

Plants bloom throughout the season, starting in March and continuing through the following months. Check the Spring Blooms Report to know what’s in bloom during your visit.
