Downtown Mount Vernon is getting another dining option as Urban Gourmet prepares to open its second location inside Founders Food Hall.
The Columbus-based restaurant will become the newest kitchen operator at Founders, bringing a menu centered around burgers, wings, pasta dishes, sandwiches and salads to the downtown food hall. Knox Pages first reported the new addition Wednesday.
Urban Gourmet currently operates at East Market Food Hall in Columbus, where its menu includes several burger options, wings with a variety of sauces and seasonings, pasta dishes, sandwiches and salads. The restaurant’s menu also includes sides such as loaded tater tots, sweet potato fries, mac and cheese and garlic bread.
Among the burger choices at the Columbus location are a Classic Burger, Double Smash Burger, Urban Burger with truffle mayo and caramelized onions, and a BBQ Burger. The restaurant also offers chicken, salmon and other salad options.
The Mount Vernon location will be Urban Gourmet’s second location, following the Columbus restaurant’s success at East Market Food Hall.
Founders Food Hall is located at 18 East Vine Street inside the renovated former Mount Vernon News building. The facility was developed as a downtown gathering space featuring multiple independent kitchens, a full-service bar and a four-season room.
The food hall’s current operators include SLICE, Tabouli Cafe, OX-B’s, Rijsttafel and The Daily Scoop, along with Founders Bar. Urban Gourmet will add another American-style option to that lineup.
No official opening date for Urban Gourmet in Mount Vernon has been announced yet.
The addition comes as Founders Food Hall continues to establish itself as part of the revitalization of downtown Mount Vernon and the former newspaper building. The project has brought food, entertainment and shared gathering space back to the historic East Vine Street property.
