Proposed Delaware County Data Center Continues Through Review Process

Plans for a large data center in Delaware County continue moving through the local review process as officials evaluate one of the area’s largest proposed commercial developments.

The project, proposed near Sunbury, would bring a large-scale technology campus designed to house computer servers that power cloud computing, artificial intelligence and internet services.

Supporters say the development would generate construction jobs, long-term employment opportunities and new tax revenue while strengthening central Ohio’s growing technology sector.

However, some nearby residents have expressed concerns about increased traffic, utility demands, water consumption, noise from cooling equipment and the long-term impact on surrounding farmland and neighborhoods.

Local officials continue reviewing engineering plans, utility needs and zoning requirements before any final approvals are granted.

The proposal comes as central Ohio continues attracting major technology investments because of its location, electrical infrastructure and proximity to existing data centers in the Columbus region.
