A portion of Park Avenue East in downtown Mansfield is scheduled to be widened near the Richland County Courthouse as part of an upcoming city project.
The work is expected to be completed within approximately one month, according to Mansfield City Engineer Bob Bianchi.
The project will be funded through the city’s permissive sales tax, which provides revenue for transportation and infrastructure improvements.
The section of Park Avenue East near the courthouse is being modified as the city continues making improvements to downtown streets and infrastructure.
The work is part of a broader series of projects taking place in and around downtown Mansfield as officials continue investing in transportation infrastructure and the city’s central business district.
Drivers traveling through the courthouse area should be prepared for construction activity and potential changes to traffic patterns while the work is underway.
City officials expect the project to move relatively quickly, with completion anticipated within about a month.
The work comes as several other significant downtown Mansfield projects are also moving forward, including the planned redevelopment of the former Quality Inn into the proposed Hearth & Forge Hotel, a roughly $10 million project announced this week.
