Mt. Vernon Fire and Police Announce New Hires

The City of Mount Vernon has announced multiple promotions and new appointments within the Mount Vernon Fire Department and Mount Vernon Police Department as officials continue expanding public safety leadership and staffing throughout the city.

Among the promotions, Nate Hines was elevated to Assistant Chief after nearly two decades with the fire department. Tom Calland was also promoted to EMS Coordinator and Lieutenant, where he will oversee emergency medical services operations and departmental training.

The fire department also welcomed Nathaniel Wolfe and Luke Hawbaker into full-time firefighter positions after both previously served in part-time capacities.

The Mount Vernon Police Department swore in Joshua “Caleb” Craft as a new patrol officer. Craft previously served in law enforcement roles in both Columbus and Newark.
