The night sky over Mohican State Park will become part of a statewide celebration Saturday as Mohican Lodge joins eight other Ohio state park lodges for a synchronized drone show.
The Ohio Department of Natural Resources and Great Ohio Lodges are presenting “Remember, Lights in the Sky” at 9 p.m. Saturday, September 12. The event will combine a celebration of America’s 250th anniversary with a tribute marking the 25th anniversary of the September 11 attacks.
Mohican is one of nine state park lodges selected to participate. The other locations include Burr Oak, Deer Creek, Hueston Woods, Hocking Hills, Maumee Bay, Punderson, Salt Fork and Shawnee.
The synchronized drone display will serve as the evening’s finale, with illuminated drones creating images in the sky as part of a patriotic tribute to service, sacrifice and the country.
Officials say each participating lodge will also offer activities throughout the day, with most events free and open to the public.
At Mohican, visitors can spend the day exploring the surrounding state park before gathering for the evening’s show overlooking the area around Pleasant Hill Lake.
ODNR Director Mary Mertz says the event is intended to give families and communities an opportunity to come together while experiencing Ohio’s state parks.
The drone show begins at 9 p.m. Saturday, September 12, and is open to visitors at Mohican State Park Lodge.
