The Knox County Foundation will host an in-depth fundraising workshop this fall aimed at helping local nonprofit organizations strengthen their fundraising and donor development efforts.
The workshop will be held Tuesday, October 27, from noon to 5 p.m. at the Ramser 4-H Center, 700 Perimeter Drive in Mount Vernon. Lunch will be provided.
Presented through the Knox Network of Nonprofits, or KNN, the training will feature Lori Overmyer, Executive Vice President at Goettler Associates. Overmyer will return to Knox County to lead an expanded session focused on practical fundraising strategies that nonprofit organizations can put into action.
The training will cover a range of topics, including the role board members can play in fundraising, planning and conducting capital campaigns, keeping existing donors engaged and reconnecting with previous donors.
Participants will also learn strategies for recruiting new donors, beginning conversations with prospective donors and planning effective year-end fundraising campaigns.
“We know fundraising is an ongoing challenge for many nonprofit organizations, and this training is an opportunity to spend meaningful time digging into both the fundamentals and some of the more complex questions that come with it,” said Lisa Lloyd, Senior Program Director at Knox County Foundation.
Lloyd said Overmyer’s experience should provide participants with strategies they can begin using immediately.
“Lori brings a wealth of experience and practical knowledge, and we hope participants leave with ideas and strategies they can put to work right away,” Lloyd said.
Overmyer has more than 30 years of professional fundraising experience, with expertise in annual and capital fundraising plans, strategic analysis, major donor solicitation and establishing development procedures designed to strengthen nonprofit operations and communications.
Her experience also includes marketing research, proposal writing, donor cultivation, recognition strategies and helping nonprofit board members become more involved in the fundraising process.
The October workshop is designed for nonprofit staff, board members and others involved in fundraising or donor development.
Participants should register by Tuesday, October 20.
