Knox County Chamber of Commerce Launches Statewide Search for Next Executive Director

The Knox County Chamber of Commerce has opened a statewide search for its next Executive Director, seeking a visionary, results‑oriented leader to guide the organization into its next phase of growth. The Board of Trustees announced the search this week, emphasizing the Chamber’s central role in supporting a diverse business community that includes small businesses, entrepreneurs, family‑owned companies, global manufacturers, healthcare providers, agricultural leaders, nonprofits, and educational institutions.

According to the Chamber, the Executive Director will serve as both the chief executive officer and the public face of the organization. The role includes leading implementation of the Chamber’s 2024 strategic plan and driving measurable progress on priorities such as long‑term financial sustainability, revenue development, member engagement, public policy advocacy, and high‑level partnerships across Knox County.

“With a strong strategic foundation in place, the Chamber is ready to accelerate its impact,” Board Chair Steve Oster said in the announcement. “We are seeking a transformational leader who will build measurable momentum, deepen business engagement, and serve as a trusted advocate for boldly advancing economic growth throughout Knox County.”

Local chambers of commerce serve as advocates, connectors, educators, and promoters for businesses. In Knox County, the Chamber collaborates closely with major employers, small businesses, community organizations, and educational partners to strengthen economic opportunity and quality of life.

The ideal candidate will bring at least five years of progressive leadership experience in a chamber of commerce, business association, nonprofit organization, economic development entity, or comparable executive role. Candidates should demonstrate success in strategic execution, fiscal management, revenue development, board engagement, advocacy, and stakeholder relationship‑building. A proven track record of producing measurable results and leading organizational growth is strongly preferred.

The position offers a competitive salary, comprehensive benefits, paid time off, professional development opportunities, and a performance‑based bonus structure beginning after the first year.
