Danville Blue Devils Advance to Division VI State Championship Game

The Danville Blue Devils are one win away from making school history.

Danville punched its ticket to the OHSAA Division VI State Softball Championship game with an impressive 11-4 victory over Dalton in the state semifinals Wednesday at Firestone Stadium in Akron.

The Blue Devils used a strong offensive performance and timely pitching to pull away from the Bulldogs and secure their place in the state title game. The victory continues a remarkable postseason run for a Danville team that has established itself as one of the top programs in Division VI this season.

With the win, Danville advances to face the West Jefferson Roughriders in the Division VI state championship game on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. at Firestone Stadium.

West Jefferson earned its spot in the championship contest with an 8-0 victory over Lincolnview in the other Division VI state semifinal.

Danville enters the title game with a 24-5 record and the opportunity to capture the first state softball championship in school history.

The Blue Devils have built momentum throughout the tournament, including a 1-0 victory over New Madison Tri-Village in the regional finals and a dominant performance in the state semifinals. The team’s combination of strong pitching, timely hitting, and defensive play has helped propel Danville through one of the toughest postseason brackets in the state.

Firestone Stadium, home of the OHSAA State Softball Tournament since 2009, is expected to welcome a large contingent of Danville supporters as the Blue Devils compete for a state title.

For the players, coaches, and community, Thursday’s championship game represents the culmination of a season defined by determination, teamwork, and success. A victory over West Jefferson would secure the first softball state championship in Danville school history and cement the 2026 Blue Devils as one of the most accomplished teams the school has ever produced.

First pitch is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Thursday in Akron.
