Brice Hay Sentenced to Life in Prison for Killing of Father

Brice Hay has been sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole in connection with the stabbing death of his father, Kevin Hay, in Knox County.

Hay was charged after his father was found dead at a residence on King Road in Howard in December 2025. Prosecutors initially filed the case in Knox County Juvenile Court but sought to have Hay transferred to adult court because of the severity of the allegations.

The case involved charges of aggravated murder and murder. Prosecutors argued for the case to proceed in adult court during the bindover proceedings.

Hay was ultimately prosecuted as an adult and has now been sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole.

Under a life sentence with parole eligibility, an offender must serve a minimum period of incarceration before becoming eligible to ask for release. Eligibility for parole does not mean release is automatic; a parole authority must determine whether the individual is suitable for release.

The specific minimum period Hay must serve before becoming eligible for parole was not included in the information I was able to independently verify, so that figure is not being reported here.

The case drew significant attention in Knox County following the death of Kevin Hay and the subsequent decision to pursue the younger Hay in adult court.

Hay’s July 2026 booking record remains publicly indexed in Knox County records, but that record does not provide sentencing information.
