The Ohio District 5 Area Agency on Aging Foundation has awarded $3,500 in scholarships to five students and professionals pursuing careers focused on serving older adults and people with disabilities.
The foundation says the scholarships were awarded to individuals studying or working in fields including health care, social work and related services. The awards are intended to help support the development of the region’s future health care and human-services workforce.
The scholarship program is funded through sponsorships of the Area Agency on Aging’s annual meeting, along with additional community support.
The Ohio District 5 Area Agency on Aging serves communities throughout north-central Ohio and works with organizations providing services to older adults and people with disabilities.
Foundation officials say supporting students entering these fields is particularly important as communities continue to face growing demand for health care, social services and other programs serving older residents.
The scholarships are one way the foundation is investing in the future workforce while helping students pursue careers that directly serve people in the region.
The Area Agency on Aging Foundation continues to accept community support for its scholarship and other programs.
