Food For The Hungry of Knox County will open applications Thursday, October 1, for its 2026 Winter Grant program.
Applications will be accepted beginning at 8 a.m. October 1 and must be submitted by noon Saturday, October 31. Applications received after the deadline will not be accepted.
Each year, a portion of the money raised through the Food For The Hungry Winter Drive is distributed through grants to Knox County nonprofit organizations that help provide food to people in need.
The 2025 FFTH campaign raised $394,301.89.
Primary consideration for the Winter Grants is given to food pantries and hot meal programs, while other nonprofit organizations that help address gaps in food insecurity may also be considered.
Grant awards are based on several factors, including the number of people served, the number of monthly volunteers involved and other information provided through the application.
Organizations interested in applying can find the application at FoodForTheHungryCares.org. Information is available from the website’s home page or under the “Who We Help” tab.
Applications must be submitted by 12 p.m. October 31, with grant recipients expected to be notified by mid-November.
The organizations receiving grants will be highlighted during Food For The Hungry LIVE, a live-stream and radio broadcast scheduled for Friday, December 11, at the Memorial Theater inside the Knox Memorial.
FFTH is also reminding organizations holding community events to support the Winter Drive to complete the community event form available through the organization’s website.
