Newark Developer Withdraws Multi-Car Garage Proposal Near Overlook

A developer has withdrawn a controversial proposal to build three multi-car garages near the Overlook housing development in Newark.

Trailhead Vista had requested zoning approval from the Newark Board of Zoning Appeals to construct the garages with a 50-foot setback from nearby single-family homes. The proposal had drawn attention because of the potential impact on neighboring residents.

The withdrawal means the zoning board will not move forward with the proposal as originally presented.

The project is part of continued development pressure in the Newark area, where new housing and supporting infrastructure have generated debate over how larger developments should fit alongside established residential neighborhoods.

It remains possible that the developer could bring forward a revised proposal in the future.
