A Popular Columbus Non-Profit Family Attraction Files Lawsuit Against Municipality Over New Tax

The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium is suing Liberty Township in an effort to block a newly imposed tax.

The township recently implemented a $1.00 per guest admission tax, aimed at funding fire and EMS services that serve the zoo and surrounding area. In response, the zoo has filed a lawsuit requesting the court to delay or stop the tax from being collected.

The case raises questions about how municipalities fund emergency services for large attractions and who ultimately bears that cost.
