Burns tabbed as NCAC Athlete of the Week

CLEVELAND, Ohio — The North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) selected Kenyon’s Aidan Burns as the men’s soccer Athlete of the Week after the junior helped keep the Owls undefeated.

Burns scored Kenyon’s lone goal in a 1-0 road win over Wabash College, propelling the No. 3/4-ranked Owls to a 10-0-1 record and a 2-0-1 NCAC mark.

The game-winning goal came in the 49th minute as Burns headed the ball into the net off a corner kick from senior defender Luke Muther. The goal was Burns’ first of the season and fourth of his two-year career at Kenyon.

The Newfield, New Jersey native also contributed in Kenyon’s 0-0 draw on the road against Ohio Wesleyan University earlier in the week, helping the Owls’ defense hold OWU to one second-half shot after nine first-half attempts. The 1-0-1 week extended Kenyon’s NCAC record for the longest unbeaten streak in conference play (46 regular-season games, dating back to the 2016 season).

Up next, the No. 3/4 Owls head to Oberlin, Ohio, on Tuesday, Oct. 11, to take on Oberlin College (4-5-1, 0-2-1 NCAC) at 7 p.m. Kenyon then returns home to host DePauw University (5-3-4, 0-1-1 NCAC) at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 15, on Mavec Field during Kenyon’s Parent’s Weekend.
