Thanks to a combination of funding sources, the final section of Sawmill Park will begin construction in 2023, with completion planned for 2024.
This phase will extend the roadway 3,200 feet to a new roundabout at South Section Line Road. The project will also include water and sanitary sewer extensions as well as a multi-use path along the length of the road.
The work will further enhance the economic base of the City of Delaware. In 2022, the City extended Sawmill 1,400 feet from Innovation Court to Founders Court, opening access to nearly 300 acres, including the new Sawmill Pointe Business Park — 1.3 million square feet of industrial space.
The extension of Sawmill from U.S. 42, west to Section Line Road is a long-time component of the city and county’s thoroughfare plans. The engineering design work is complete, and the project is moving to the construction phase. Construction is scheduled to be completed in summer of 2024.
The project is being funded through several sources, including more than $2.1 million in grants from the State of Ohio and $2.9 million from the City of Delaware’s General Fund.
