Six Owls named NFHCA Scholars of Distinction

MANAHAWKIN, N.J. — Shortly after the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) announced its annual NFHCA National Academic Squad, the organization revealed the student-athletes from that list who earned further recognition as Scholars of Distinction. Six Kenyon College student-athletes were named as honorees, including senior Lucy Scott, junior Darcy Miller, sophomore Lana Stone, and first-years Ella Adamec, Abby Golub, and Maren Lawrence.

The group of Owls, along with 13 of their teammates, earned a spot on the NFHCA National Academic Squad last week for posting a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or better through the fall semester of the 2023-24 academic year. To earn status as a Scholar of Distinction, the awardees had to register a cumulative GPA of 3.90 or higher in the first semester of this academic year. Overall, just 509 NCAA Division III student-athletes made the cut as Scholars of Distinction.

Stone stands alone as the only Kenyon player who earned laurels as a Scholar of Distinction last season. The other five Owls are making their first appearance on the list of student-athletes who earned the prestigious honor.
