SCAM Phone Calls in Reference to Warrant

NEWARK, OHIO – The Newark Division of Police has been made aware that many of our residents
have become the recipients of scam phone calls telling the person that they have a warrant. Many
variations of this scam have been making their way through local agencies and nationwide. We will not
call you to tell you that you have a warrant, nor will we ask you to pay your fine over the phone or with
gift cards. If you think you actually have a warrant, please come to NPD during normal business hours to
check.
