Nine Traffic Fatalities in Licking County in November 2023

12/11/2023 LICKING COUNTY, OHIO – The Licking County Health Department’s (LCHD) Safe Communities Coalition reported nine crash fatalities in the county during November 2023. In November 2022, there was one crash fatality reported. Year-to-date (November 30, 2023), there have been 21 crash fatalities in Licking County. At this time last year, there were 18 crash fatalities year-to-date (November 30, 2022).

On November 14th, a crash involving a charter bus carrying Tuscarawas Valley High School students, teachers, and chaperones, another commercial vehicle, and three passenger vehicles occurred on Interstate 70 westbound near the State Route 310 Etna Interchange. This crash resulted in six fatalities, including three Tuscarawas High School students, one teacher, and two chaperones.

“The accident on November 14th was a tragedy, and we all stand with the Tusky Valley community as they continue to recover. Traffic safety is an important public health issue, and one that we need to take seriously. Let’s look out for each other on the roads and work together to keep everyone safe as we travel this holiday season” said LCHD Health Commissioner, Chad Brown.
