The Licking/Knox Goodwill Pony Express Horseback Riding Program

The Licking/Knox Goodwill Pony Express Horseback Riding Program will open rider registration for the fall session on August 15, 2023, at 10:00 am. Volunteer registration is open. Goodwill is very excited about being able to offer this beneficial program for children and young adults (ages 5-21) with disabilities in Licking and Knox Counties. Riding is an excellent form of recreation and socialization and helps to develop self-awareness, self-confidence, and self-discipline.

Riding sessions will be held September 19 – October 24, 2023 on Tuesday evenings, from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Magic Meadows Stable in Heath, Ohio. There is a $25 fee per participant. To register, visit www.goodwillnewark.com and click on the Pony Express ad.

Barbie: Special Exhibit at the Doll Museum

Barbie, the iconic Mattel doll whose popularity has spanned more than 60 years, is the center of attention at the Doll Museum. The exhibition will illustrate Barbie’s many careers (she had more than 200!), and her myriad fashion outfits, adventures and accessories (kitchen, rock band, camping tent, airplane, ’57 Chevy, etc.).

The Doll Museum is open Wed-Fri 1-4pm, and Saturdays 10-2pm. Members are free. Admission is $3 per person.

Wellness Walk at Kingwood Center Gardens @ Kingwood Center Gardens

Program runs weekly, Wednesdays at 11 AM

During this 45-minute class, take in the natural beauty of Kingwood Gardens and breath-in the fresh air.  Dress with appropriate footwear as we will trek a 3/4-mile loop, ending with a 10-minute stretch session designed to improve muscle tone, flexibility, and range of motion.   After class you will leave feeling refreshed and restored in the mind body and spirit.

Friday Farmers Markets run 4-7pm every Friday through October. Shop local produce, sweet treats, and artisan goods while enjoying live music. We will also have a food truck at every market.
Shoppers can also take advantage of Produce Perks. You can double your SNAP/EBT (Ohio Directions Card) benefits at our markets. Redeem $25 of your SNAP benefits, and you’ll get $50 to use for fresh produce! Come to the Market Director table in the center pavilion to use your card to purchase tokens.
